ENERXICO SUPERCOMPUTING AND ENERGY FOR MEXICO
EUROPE & MEXICO

Energy industry simulations

ENERXICO will develop performance simulation tools that require exascale HPC and data intensive algorithms for different energy sources: wind energy production, efficient combustion systems for biomass-derived fuels (biogas) and exploration geophysics for hydrocarbon reservoirs.
The ENERXICO Consortium consists of 15 partners and 1 project observer - 8 from Europe and 8 from Mexico - with different organizational cultures (universities, research centres, supercomputing facilities and industry) that contribute to the project with complementary expertise. The management structure for the project is designed to provide an appropriate level of professional management to mediate efficiently between the different interests and cultures of the partners, and it is based on well-known best practice methodologies.

Research Areas

Wind

One of the biggest challenges in wind energy meteorology predicting the incoming wind to a turbine. There needs to be improved understanding of the local-scale physics, its interplay with the larger mesoscales characterizing the weather, and the turbine itself.

Combustion

ENERXICO develops and validates predictive combustion simulation tools in order to optimise fuel design and fuel performance towards more sustainable and greener propulsion systems.

Oil & Gas

ENERXICO aims to have an impact on the exploration, production, transport and refining areas of the oil and gas industry.
